Join us for our renowned program designed for the beginning cyclist as well as the true bike enthusiast.  Curriculum will include weekly activities such as cycling etiquette, specific training techniques, and mechanics as well as cadence rides, hill climbs, and a 5- cities tour through beautiful San Diego County.  Bike club serves as a prerequisite for the Ride Across California.   Registration begins August 30th, 2007.  Please note:  Non registered riders will not be accepted during training rides. New member Orientation meeting August 30, 2007 at 7pm at Scripps Poway Parkway Site.

Ride Across California (RAC)

This Spring Break, challenge your family and earn your 2008 Bike Pilot License by participating in the Ride Across California. This ride is open to all 5th grade students and their parents. Caravanning to Yuma, Arizona, YMCA riders will embark on a seven-day California cycling "Adventure of a Lifetime" through Brawley, Ocotillo Wells, Julian, Santa Ysabel, Mesa Grande, and Ramona to our final destination of Carlsbad State Beach.

Prerequisite: Enrollment in the YMCA Bike Club and successful completion of two hill climb training rides offered in March 2008. Fee includes snacks, meals, and lodging. Volunteer support and drivers encouraged. Alumni riders may participate on the ride if extra spaces remain available.
