Our affordable Youth Sports Classes offer a great way to help your child develop skills and character values in a safe and fun environment.
Our programs focus on the fundamentals of the sport, including skill development, teamwork, and fair play, while incorporating the YMCA’s four core values into each class. Our classes are based on positive competition where everyone plays and games are used to better teach your child every aspect of the sport.

Cricket
6-11yr. old (55 min.)
- This program is designed to introduce youth to a fantastic sport that is played throughout the world. Youth will be introduced to bowling, catching, batting, wickets, and overall rules of the game. The class will be divided up based on ages and will work on specific skills and end practices with a scrimmage. All participants will recieve a medal and certificate at the end of the season. This program is taught by volunteers from the San Diego Cricket Association.

Big Hoops
5-10 yr. old (55min)
- This 5-7 and 8-10 year old class is a way to advance and further develop the skills of basketball. Advanced games and drills will be used to teach the fundamentals, while incorporating the YMCA values into the session as well. The last day of the session will include a full scrimmage concluded with a medal and certificate presentation.
Big Sluggers
5-7 yr. old (55min)
- This class is a way to advance and further develop the skills of baseball. Advanced games and drills will be used to teach the fundamentals, while incorporating the YMCA values into the session as well. The last day of the session will include a full scrimmage concluded with a medal and certificate presentation.
Big Kicks
5-7 yr. old (55min)
- This class is a way to advance and further develop the skills of soccer. More advanced games and drills will be used to teach the fundamentals, while incorporating the YMCA values into the session as well. The last day of the session will include a full scrimmage concluded with a medal and certificate presentation.
Volleyball
9-12 yr. old (55min)
- This class is designed for both the beginner as well as those who are looking to continue to develop their volleyball skills and techniques. Each week the class will focus on a specific skill and aspect of the game and follow up with these fundamentals in an active game. These skills will continue to be developed each week with more advanced drills and games in order to improve and advance the participants throughout the session. Scrimmages will be incorporated at the end of each practice and medals and certificates will be handed out the last day of the session.

Baton Twirling
5+ Year Olds (60min)
- Instructor: Cheryl Knapp
- Held at YMCA Program Center
- Join the award winning YMCA Sweetheart Twirlers! Instruction includes one and two baton, duet twirl, basic and fancy strut for optional competition; dance/twirl and parade routines for local shows and parades. Twirling promotes fitness, gracefulness, quick thinking, self-confidence, teamwork and new friendships.
